Georgian 'In Memory Of' Mourning Ring with Natural Pearls in 18k Gold
A Victorian mourning ring that has carried two remembrances. Made in the late 18th century, the band reads IN MEMORY OF in gold letters set against black enamel, punctuated by three natural pearls — the Georgian emblem of tears.
Almost a century later, the family member who inherited it had the inside engraved “My Mother Sept 5th 1913,” turning an heirloom of mourning into a memorial of their own. One ring, two generations of love, both still legible in the gold.
The band tapers from 6.6 mm across the face to a slim 2.2 mm at the back, so it wears easily on its own or stacked with other antique bands. The enamel shows honest wear from two centuries on the hand — original, unrestored, and exactly what collectors look for in a true mourning ring.
