Welcome to Petra Star – Where Every Gem Tells a Story

Welcome to our quaint space here at Petra Star, where fine jewelry meets the decades-long dedication of Dimitria Koumarnetos, a humble artisan in the realm of high-end luxury. Dimitria’s journey began over 30 years ago, mentored by Barry Weber, a 15-year Antiques Roadshow expert, who sparked her lifelong passion for vintage jewelry. This foundation set the stage for a career defined by artistry, authenticity, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship.
Dimitria honed her expertise during eight years as the store manager of the highly respected David Clay Jewelers in San Francisco’s Marina District, followed by her leadership roles at Lang Antiques and Shreve & Co., San Francisco's oldest jewelry store. Each chapter of her career further enriched her knowledge, blending tradition with a modern eye for design and sustainability.
Grounded in a deep commitment to ethical sourcing, Dimitria takes pride in carefully selecting gems and metals that honor both beauty and responsibility. Her dedication shines through in every piece, celebrating the stories and uniqueness of the individuals who wear them.
The inspiration behind Petra Star lies in the Greek word “Petra,” meaning rock—a tribute to the strength and individuality within each of us. Our cozy showroom in historic downtown Mystic, CT, offers a welcoming atmosphere, where jewelry shopping becomes an educational and delightful experience.
We’re also proud to share that our 14-year online business, JewelConscious, has merged with Petra Star as The Vintage Vault, bringing a stunning array of vintage treasures alongside our sustainable luxury collections.
Whether you’re searching for a timeless piece to mark a special moment or simply want to explore the beauty of fine jewelry, we’re here to guide you with care and expertise.
