Edwardian Old European Cut Diamond & Pearl Drop Earrings | Platinum-Topped 18K Gold | Reimagined from an Antique Brooch
Reimagined from an Edwardian brooch.
These earrings began as an Edwardian brooch. The construction is what dates them. Each drop is platinum on top and 18k yellow gold behind, a method jewelers adopted around 1900, setting diamonds in platinum for its whiteness and backing it with gold for strength. The bright white face is what you see. The warm gold stays hidden against the skin. It is the details we look for when we acquire our collection.
The Old European cut diamonds graduate and are pavé set. Cut by hand and eye for candlelight, they carry a softer, deeper flicker than a modern brilliant. A pearl sits at the top of each drop.
As a 1" drop, they are light enough for every day and fine enough for a wedding. Only one pair exists.
