Danburite Solitaire in 14k White Gold
Danburite, a calcium boron silicate mineral, was first discovered in 1837 by Charles Upham Shephard in Danbury, Connecticut, hence the name. While initially prized for its scientific interest, it remained relatively unknown and under appreciated as a gemstone until the 1990s, when deposits in Burma and Mexico yielded gem-quality crystals.
We recently set this incredible stone in a simple, 14k white gold solitaire in a finger size 6.5 (can be sized).
The lure of danburite lies primarily in its clarity, brilliance, and subtle pastel colors, especially pink, yellow, and colorless. These qualities make it an attractive and affordable alternative to more expensive gems like topaz or quartz.
The Mohs hardness for danburite is 7 to 7.5. Beyond its aesthetics, the gemstone is also prized by some for its metaphysical properties. It is believed to be a stone of purity and spiritual connection, promoting emotional healing, clear communication, and connection to angelic realms. This combination of beauty and perceived spiritual benefits contributes to danburite's growing popularity in the gemstone world.
