Petra Star Bridal Belcher Solitaire Engagement Ring — Reclaimed Antique Diamond, GIA Certified

A Victorian-era belcher ring whose mold was taken and reproduced in exacting detail, prong and mounting cast as a single unbroken piece. It is a design that predates the modern engagement ring as we know it, and one that has quietly outlasted every trend that came after it. A belcher setting — sometimes called a buttercup — seats its stone flush to the metal, cup-held with open air beneath and around it, so that the diamond and the band sit at the same height. The effect is architectural rather than ornamental: less a stone perched atop a ring, more a stone that belongs to it. Set deliberately low, it was built with a specific kind of life in mind — the hands of a nurse who wears gloves through every shift, and needs a ring that won't catch, snag, or announce itself when it isn't supposed to.

Belcher rings carry their own quiet symbolism. Worn for centuries, they were never showy — no gallery, no elaborate basket, nothing between the wearer and the stone. To choose one is to choose restraint as a form of confidence: a ring that says I know what matters here, and it isn't the setting.

Belcher rings have been made for centuries. Similar to a gypsy ring, a Belcher has a stone set flush to the mounting, offering a low profile (the heights of the stone and the ring are the same). The stone sits in a cup, with open air under and around it, giving it more of the feel of a band than a cocktail or engagement ring. 

Our signature Petra Star Bridal engagement rings start of from a mold being made from the original antique piece. We can then remake it but the stone size cannot be modified. We can custom make a piece based around a similar design for other shapes and sizes.
