Edwardian Diamond Spiral Pendant
A statement Edwardian pendant in platinum, set with 124 earth-mined diamonds totaling 1.82 carats. It was made between 1905 and 1915, when platinum first let jewelers build settings this fine and light. The spiral design is set throughout with Old European and rose cut diamonds, anchored by a single 3.2 mm stone. These are hand-cut diamonds, and they give the soft, candlelit sparkle that modern cuts don't.
This piece began as a brooch. We removed the pin findings and converted it to a pendant, so it can be worn the way most people wear their jewelry now. Nothing else about the original was changed. At a 1.5" drop, it has real presence on the neck while staying light at 10.3 grams.
It comes on a vintage platinum chain, 17" long with a box clasp, dating to circa 1930 or earlier. The pendant and chain suit each other in metal and in age, and the necklace is ready to wear as it arrives.
