Before approximately 1850, diamonds weren't simply cut to reflect light — they were engineered to generate it. The foiled closed-back setting, a technique perfected by Georgian silversmiths, placed a thin metallic layer directly behind each stone, amplifying candlelight from within and producing a warm, almost incandescent glow that no modern brilliant cut can replicate. This extraordinary pendant carries that technology intact — in sixty-six diamonds that have shimmered by firelight for over two centuries.

Originally fashioned as a brooch, the classic Georgian form for statement diamond pieces, this pendant has been thoughtfully and respectfully converted: a period-appropriate Georgian bail now allows it to be worn exactly as it was always meant to be seen — centered, suspended, undeniable. The silver mounts retain their deep, rich antique patina, each collet still gripping its stone precisely as a Georgian silversmith intended. There are no hallmarks — Georgian pieces rarely bear them — but every detail of construction speaks to the craft of the early 19th century.

The single rose cut diamond at center, estimated at 0.50 carats and measuring 6.3 × 6.1 mm, anchors the composition with the characteristic warmth and depth that only hand-finished stone cutting achieves. Surrounding it, sixty-five rose cut diamonds totaling an estimated 2.08 carats radiate outward in a design that balances architectural geometry with the organic, hand-worked texture of a pre-industrial maker's hand. Together, they represent approximately 2.58 carats of antique diamond weight — a remarkable accumulation for a piece of this age, this type, and this rarity.

We've suspended the pendant on a matching antique heavy cable chain at 26 inches, its patina a near-perfect complement to the pendant itself. The chain length is adjustable, though it is not removable. A note on care: foiled closed-back settings must never be submerged in water, as moisture compromises the foiling and the brilliance it creates. Handle this piece with the quiet reverence it has earned across two centuries.

A museum-quality Georgian diamond pendant, arrived — improbably, wonderfully — in your collection.
