"Aunque el proceso de envoltura de alambre se remonta al antiguo Egipto, DK comenzó su proceso único un poco más recientemente, cuando Dana tenía 10 años y Elizabeth 7. Un reparador de teléfonos llegó a su casa de la infancia para hacer un trabajo y dejó atrás carretes de alambre revestido de colores que Dana convirtió en largos collares de eslabones entrelazados que regaló a sus amigas. Pasamos a 1990, cuando Dana trabajaba como editora de WWD y W Magazine y fabricaba joyas para controlar el estrés. Todavía regalaba sus piezas a sus amigas, una de ellas era dueña de una sala de exposiciones y animó a las hermanas a considerar la posibilidad de iniciar un negocio. Veintiocho años después, esa sencilla técnica ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en el intrincado, meticuloso y alucinante proceso por el que nos han hecho conocidos.
Las piezas de DK suelen empezar con una forma de alambre que sirve como lienzo en blanco. Se "cosen" varios componentes en un patrón complejo para crear composiciones únicas. El alambre puede ser implacable y utilizan una selección de diferentes calibres, algunos de los cuales son muy finos. Un paso en falso y puede doblarse o romperse, y luego hay que volver al punto de partida. Esta es una de las razones por las que se necesitan años para dominar su particular enfoque. A pesar de la naturaleza algo frágil del alambre de calibre fino, su diseño y construcción garantizan que sus joyas estén literalmente hechas para durar. Si a eso le sumamos la belleza atemporal de sus piezas junto con el encanto de las creaciones hechas a mano y a medida, es por eso que sus diseños a menudo se conocen como recuerdos".

Sizing
Rings
The majority of our rings are one-of-a-kind. If you would like to order a ring in a specific size, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Helping you find the perfect fit is our priority. There is a flat fee of $60 to size down. The sizing-up cost varies based on width of the ring and the amount of material required.
Keep in mind that finger sizes fluctuate due to factors such as temperature and time of day. Rings with an open space under the mounting, as well as contour bands, may fit differently than fully round rings.
Ring sizings take 3 weeks before they ship.
Our Materials
Our Petra Star signature pieces are made-to-order using recycled alloys. Custom items are available in the following materials:

Our one-of-a-kind items are only available "as is.” We are happy to discuss the options for remaking a similar piece in a different metal to your specifications—it's one of our specialties.
Depending on the light source and viewing angle, the color of natural gemstones may vary. The depiction of color online and in images may not always accurately reflect the colors that are visible in person. Whenever possible, we recommend viewing the item in person to ascertain its true color.
