Petra Star Signature Belcher Diamond Ring Set With Antique Old Mine Cut Diamond

Belcher rings have been made for centuries. What is a belcher ring you ask? Named after a famous English boxer from 1800, James (Jem) Belcher, similar to a gypsy ring, the stone is set flush to the mounting offering a low profile. The height of the stone and the height of the ring are the same. There is a cup that the stone sits in with open air under and around it. It feels more like a band than a cocktail or engagement ring.This example is cast from a mold taken directly off an original antique belcher mounting, then set with a reclaimed 0.56 ct antique Old Mine cut diamond, earth-mined, H/I color and SI1 clarity. The Old Mine cut's high crown, small table, and open faceting are original to the stone rather than a modern reproduction cut — the softness and warmth typical of hand-faceted 19th-century work.

Available as a semi-mount for clients who wish to set their own diamond; center stones must measure between 4.5–5mm in diameter.
