Turquoise has carried protective associations across Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Southwestern traditions for centuries, and its pairing with the Hamsa is a natural one — the symbol itself is one of the oldest talismans for warding off the evil eye, predating its adoption into Jewish, Muslim, and broader Mediterranean folk traditions alike.
