Past Present Future Sapphire Diamond Engagement Ring 14k White Gold

The classic past, present, and future piece makes for an incredibly romantic engagement ring. The deep-blue round-faceted sapphire is set in four prongs and flanked by a .50 ct natural round brilliant-cut diamond on each side, while the 14k white gold mounting is set with additional diamonds pavé down the band. 

Part of the corundum family, sapphires are the second hardest stone next to diamonds, withstanding daily wear and tear. Sapphires and rubies (same stone, different color) come in every color of the rainbow and are a splendid alternative to a diamond for an engagement ring. 

I recently attended a lecture about corundum through my GIA Alumni group in San Francisco to hear gem dealer Sheahan Stephen speak about Sri Lankan gem mining. This gem-quality, deep-blue sapphire is getting rarer and more valuable due to new treatments that are occurring in sapphires today.
