1940s 14K Gold Hand-Engraved Teardrop Earrings | Vintage Scalloped Floral Design
A pair of teardrop earrings from the retro period, worked in 14 karat yellow gold and finished with a hand-engraved floral motif set within a scalloped, serrated border. The engraving reads as confident and freehand — the kind of bright-cut and line work typical of mid-century goldsmithing, where the tool traveled the metal in a single fluid pass rather than the more mechanical, repetitive patterning seen in later mass production. The scalloped edge frames the floral center and catches light along its ridges, giving the surface movement even in a compact, lightweight form. Each earring is stamped 14K on the reverse alongside a maker's mark. At just over three-quarters of an inch in drop and a half-inch across, these sit as an easy everyday-to-evening pair, substantial in presence but featherlight at just one gram each.
