This ring is our answer to a question we kept returning to after selling a cherished antique mounting years ago: What if we could offer that again? The result is one of the most intimate rings we make at Petra Star.

At its heart sits a GIA-certified 0.80 carat Old European cut diamond, laser-inscribed and accompanied by a laboratory report confirming both its authenticity and its exceptional character. The color is Light Fancy Brown—a designation that does little justice to what you actually see: a warm, luminous champagne with depth that shifts under changing light, honeyed in sun, amber-tinged by candlelight. Far from a compromise, fancy brown Old European cuts were prized in the period this setting evokes, when color and fire told a story that cold white stones simply could not.

Flanking the center stone, a matched pair of Old European cut side diamonds in I/J color with VS2–SI1 clarity complete the three-stone composition—their rounded silhouettes echoing the center stone's period character in perfect proportion.

The setting itself is the story. Crafted in solid 14k yellow gold, it is intentionally, unapologetically shallow—the band rising just 3.4mm above the finger, tapering gracefully from 7mm at the shoulders to a slender 1.9mm at the back. The prongs are delicate and period-appropriate, letting the diamond speak. And then there is the detail that antique jewelry aficionados will recognize immediately: the pointed culet of the diamond rests gently against the skin. This is not an accident.
